Being an Ear Candy Update podcast which truly is freeform and does not simply discuss freeform. Stream online here: “Broadcasting as it exists now in the United States is an unmitigated whore. At some stage in its history, there was a chance to turn it into a creative, artful, caring medium; but then all the toads came along, realizing the power of radio and television to hawk their awful wares. The saga of broadcasting in America is littered with the bodies of those who wanted to do something significant —- and who were driven out [or more correctly, sold out] by the pimps and thieves who now run the media. Broadcasting does not have to be so vile and boorish… The art of radio can be used for artistic means; the radio-soul does not have to be made into a strumpet for soap and politicians.” - Lorenzo Wilson Milam I had to do this. Seriously. I felt a deep pull from all the fibers of my being and had to let this rip. I missed the mark previously, settling for unrestrained shouting into the mic about the death of radio - it’s hard to be objective especially when you’re wearing rose-colored glasses. So it goes. So here you are, something wildly different. I hope you have fun. I hope you’re inspired to listen to the artists included more frequently, or even better, you’re inspired to start a broadcast of your own. -Duke If you have any suggestions, bitches, gripes, complaints or praise, email me right here: Dukewilbury@gmail.com The tracks: Monkey Gone to Heaven - The Pixies Basic Hip - Del Close & John Brent 1976 - RJD2 Burn My Shadow - UNKLE feat.
